Well, since I am in a pickle right now not being able to see the therapist of my choice, I decided to go ahead and begin the task that she has been challenging me with and that is to study the Courage To Heal book. And what better way to put it all out there than to blog my answers instead of just journal them.
The size of the book is pretty intimidating! There's only over 580 pages! LOL But I'll get through it no matter how long it takes me. Dr. J told me to work at the pace that was comfortable for me. See why I miss her so much already?? Last night and this morning I read over the first chapter. I began journaling in my Healing Journal and then decided what better way to celebrate the beginning of a new task for me than to go shopping!! I haven't been shopping since I left my ex really. It use to be my escape from the pressures of the house and my surroundings. Today, it wasn't an escape but a new adventure.
Truth be told, I don't like to shop much unless it's a craft store like A.C. Moore or Michaels. And I hit them both today. I've never went into A.C. Moore without spending at least $100 a trip but today I only spent $31 and that was on picture frames that were on sale and a few t-shirts for the man in my life. Not one scrapbooking item did I purchase. In fact, I didn't even venture down the aisle because I knew it would sadden me because I am so far behind and I miss scrapping a great deal. My desire to focus on it has been pushed aside temporarily though I am sure. It was just a nice afternoon with myself. No kids yelling, no one to search for in the store, no pressure. Just me, myself & I.
So tomorrow I hope to begin blogging my journal entries as I progress through the Courage To Heal workbook. Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. That is, if there is sunshine where you are! :o)
Merry Christmas!

O Rhonda,
I just love this.
For so many reason.
This is the ultimate book for healing, the bible of healing. I am so excited for you to start blogging about your journey. Congratulations. The women who wrote it have blogs too!
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your afternoon of shopping.
Hugs,
Vicki
CONGRATS. It is a great book and on my bed side table as well. Yepp, on a German bed side table ;-) As per today I have a therapist, not only my choice but a traumata therapist experienced in multiple traumata's. From the first moment the approach he took I could relate too, felt understood and simply go along so willingly. Rhonda, all the very best. Hope next time you buy more for yourself, go spoiling you, babe. Hugs across the pond
It's funny Paula because I actually lived in Germany myself back in 1997.....US Army of course. LOVED it there and would love to move there.
Rhonda I only wish the best for you as you recover.
Would love to see what you blog as you go through this book.
Thanks for sharing.
